Carnelian is an orange translucent stone of chalcedony, a mineral of the quartz family. It is available in light pink, orange, red, and brown, but the most common orange and red crystals are the 17th Annual Gem.
Islamic historical records state that the Prophet Muhammad wore a silver (Abyssinian stone) Cornelian seal on the little finger of his right hand and that it was used to seal letters or other important documents. It may help to understand and explain Cornelius' fascination with the Arab-Muslim world.
Crystal healers believe in Cornelian to stimulate muscles, help oxygen find its free flow, and help keep all organs in good health. Cornelian is also believed to help overall health and those addicted to alcohol, drugs, and other stimulants to get rid of its toxins.
It is found in Brazil, India, Siberia, and Germany.
