"Sapphires are widely known to be the birthstone for the month of September. For thousands and thousands of years, Sapphires have been considered to be some of the most treasured gems in ancient Rome and Persian throughout the Middle Ages.
Sapphires can come in a variety of colors from pink, orange, and yellow, to green, blue, and purple. In fact, red sapphires are better known as Rubies. Sapphires obtain their vibrant color from trace elements within mineral corundum, for example, traces of iron and titanium produce blue sapphires, and traces of chromium produces pink Sapphires. The Sapphires with a pinkish orange shade are known as padparadscha and are known as the rarest form of Sapphires which are found in Sri Lanka.
In metaphysical belief, Sapphires are believed to attract both abundance and blessings as well as aid in protection from all negative energies surrounding the wearer. It is also said that Sapphires posses the ability to not only calm the mind but also strengthen one’s intuition."
